Ages 10 to 14 (Grades 5 to 8)
Encore Kids/Teens is a program sponsored by the Port Tobacco for Kids/Teens 10yrs – 14yrs (~5th – 8th grades). Kids must audition with a monologue and be selected/cast to participate in the program, which meets weekly on Sundays (10am – 12pm). While the program will culminate in a final production (scenes/monologues), the purpose of the program is educational and meant to provide our up and coming performers with the basics of acting including staging, character development and the art of improvisation. Those selected to become a member of our 2023/2024 Encore Kids/Teens program will be expected to attend ALL rehearsals and performances.
The purpose of the program is educational, providing our up-and-coming performers with the basics of acting. This includes staging, character development, and the art of improvisation. Skills are showcased in winter and spring productions that include scenes and monologues.
The mission of Encore Kids is to serve as a community outreach program of the Port Tobacco Players by providing year-round onstage opportunities for kids with an interest in and a flair for theatre. We give youth the opportunity to explore and develop their talent by educating them in the various terms and aspects of live theatre. Our goal is to reach out to the community by providing them with quality performances done by the Encore Kids.
Rehearsals are Sundays, 10am - 12pm; rehearsal are scheduled to run October 15, 2023 thru June 9, 2024.
Tech rehearsal dates/times are currently TBD but will be the week of the show (6/2/2024 – 6/9/2024).
Show date is tentatively scheduled for SUNDAY June 9th, 2024 @ 11am.
